Cley 15 – Newgate Sculpture

3aMy work for Cley 15 is up and looks good.  Private view is 1st July from 5.30 to 8pm.

The work (which is 8 feet long ) consists of a wire framework woven with recycled textiles, which are then burnt. The work echoes local features, such as worn bricks, but also remembers the fire, which in 1612, destroyed 117 houses on Newgate Green, which can be seen in the distance through the work.

The work uses everyday materials, which the elements may change, thus echoing the ageing process which has shaped both the landscape and buildings which surround the work.
