Pulling together

Continuing my theme of wholeness and brokenness, in this work small squares of thin glass become a substantial “cube”, but only because they are held together by a bronze band.

Initially I struggled to get copper wire or strip to hold the glass successfully as the individual sheets are quite slippery when they are next to each other. I didn’t want to glue them as that would stop some transmission of light but I also think that it is important that the work can be disassembled too, so that the order, the wholeness, is fragile and temporary.

    • Hi and thanks for commenting Loose enough for them to fall through if you move the band but tight enough for them to hold the shape when you set it down.
