5 rolls of time

A sheet of cinefoil was engraved with a series of marks to  record the passing of time, events and memories, in the manner of a barometer. It was then divided into sections and rolled into shape. The overall pattern and meaning is now hidden and secured with a band of heat-treated copper. They are kept safe and secure in a roll of woven cotton which looks like a scroll when rolled.

I want the viewer to unwrap them and handle them knowing that marks will be left on the surface and the shape will be changed slightly each time this happens.

Not sure why there has to be 5 but 6 just seemed too many and 4 too few.

They have echoes for me of the yarrow stalks used in the I Ching, intermediaries between the conscious and the unconscious mind.
